I was born in 1983 in Muscat Oman and raised all over the world. In too many places to list here. Now living in Den Haag, the Netherlands. One day, in the fall of 2016 I was walking around town trying out a new lens for an old camera I had. A camera I hadn’t touched in years. I knew nothing about street photography back then, all I knew is that I had to go back and do it again.

Since then capturing and collecting moments from the lives of total strangers became a serious obsession. I can walk the streets with my camera for hours on end and completely lose myself in a meditative and intuitive state of mind. I don’t always like to be around people too much, but for some reason I do when I’m holding a camera. It sort of gives me permission to really look at strangers freely, to connect with them in some weird way. The challenge of finding something meaningful (to me) in the most mundane moments and often having just a split second to fit it perfectly in the frame is really exciting. It’s visual exploration and responding to the unexpected; I love not knowing what will present itself or with what images I will come home with.

Besides from photographing on the streets (or wherever) I’m also a full-time mother of a five year old son. I probably would not have discovered street photography if it wasn’t for him. He taught me to be curious again and really look at what’s going on around me. To observe with empathy and without judgement.
